Resume Mistakes That Are Hurting Your Software Engineering Job Hunt And How To Fix Them
During the recruiting season last year (2020), I saw a lot of posts in my various computing networking groups on social media where people expressed hardships in securing starts to the application processes of companies.
Don’t get me wrong, last year was tough! A lot of people had their internships and full-time opportunities ripped from them last minute and some of them were not able to land new opportunities to replace the one they lost.
In some of the groups that I am part of, I saw some resumes that painted pictures of great candidates, but these people however weren’t receiving the exciting news they were hoping for.
Sometimes, the problem isn’t our intelligence, but something smaller, the organization of our resume. Remember, normally, managers do not get an opportunity to speak to us before looking at our resumes, so their decision as to whether or not they should interview us is heavily dependent on the information our resumes provide.
